911 Tele-Communicators

A New Name with a very important Job. This is the person on the other end of the Phone when you call 911.  The Dispatcher as we used to call it is now almost strictly a computer driven position. These people operate up to three different computers almost simultaneously. They ask seemingly ridiculous questions about your Location, your Phone number, your name and Social security number or Driver’s license number. They do this for a reason. Our Records system is one of the most extensive in Western Kentucky for a department our size. Being able to distinguish between four John Simpson’s all with different spellings Dates of Birth etc. is why we ask all these questions. Bear with them as they do the best they can to get Us or any of Six fire Departments or Rescue Squads to the scene. We have five Tele-communicators working in the Morganfield Police Departments Emergency Operations Center. They chose not to be identified on the web.
